A New Chapter in Bilateral Cooperation

Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier‘s recent visit to Luanda marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic and economic relations between Germany and Angola. The visit symbolizes a new phase of cooperation built on mutual trust, sustainable growth, and technological innovation.

During this state visit, three landmark cooperation agreements were signed, covering the sectors of transport, civil aviation, and agriculture. These agreements lay the foundation for deeper economic collaboration and open new horizons for bilateral exchange.

In his discussions with the Angolan government, President Steinmeier emphasized that German companies are increasingly regarded as reliable partners for sustainable development. Their engagement spans from infrastructure projects in road and hospital construction to the production of veterinary vaccines, as well as innovative future-oriented industries such as solar energy and green hydrogen.

GAUFF Engineering and CHB Investment Holding as Key Partners in the New Agro-Industrial Development Hub

In light of this strengthened partnership, GAUFF Engineering Angola and CHB Investment Holding GmbH have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Angolan Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The goal of this agreement is to establish a modern agro-industrial development hub that will serve as a driving force in the agricultural transformation of Angola.

The planned center will focus on increasing the production of corn, wheat, and various oil- and protein-rich crops, among others. Particular emphasis will be placed on maintaining a balanced approach between exports (60%) and local supply (40%) — a model designed to enhance both economic competitiveness and food security.

By integrating advanced technologies and sustainable agricultural practices, the project aims to become a flagship for green transformation in the agricultural sector.

Why Now?

Angola is currently undergoing a critical phase of economic diversification and modernization. After decades of dependency on the oil sector, the country is investing strategically in the development of infrastructure, agriculture, and export capacity — three areas in which German companies are recognized as global leaders.

For CHB, this represents an ideal opportunity to combine German expertise with Angolan potential. The political commitment of both governments creates a stable framework for long-term partnerships, technology transfer, and sustainable growth.

With its international experience in the agricultural sector and its focus on sustainable value creation, CHB sees itself as a bridge between Europe and Africa. The project embodies the company’s core values: innovation, responsibility, and international cooperation.

Looking Ahead

In the next project phase, efforts will focus on site assessments, infrastructure planning, and the development of strategic supply chains. The goal is to launch initial pilot projects by 2026 and to establish long-term contracts with local producers.

With this initiative, GAUFF and CHB are laying the foundation for a new generation of sustainable agricultural development; a model that combines economic efficiency with social responsibility and elevates the partnership between Germany and Angola to a new level.
