Tonye Patrick Cole is a renown Nigerian entrepreneur, Co-Founder and former Group Executive Director of Sahara Group, an energy conglomerate with operations spanning the entire energy chain in Nigeria and neighbouring West African countries to East Africa and beyond. The Group operates in 38 countries around the world with over 4,000 employees. In 2018, he resigned as the Group Executive Director to contest for the office of Governor of his home state, Rivers State, Nigeria.
Two of his various international assignments include being a Member of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Advisory Council on Energy, as well as being an Advisory Board Member at the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals Fund (SDG-F) in the Private Sector Advisory Group between 2014 and 2018.
Engaged in philanthropy, particularly in education and healthcare, Tonye Cole is an influential figure in Nigeria’s business landscape. He has been recognised as 100 Most Influential Africans by New Africa Magazine in 2019 and has been awarded the Africa Union/Igbere TV Leadership Excellence Award for Businessman of the Year 2022, among many others.
