In a proactive effort to foster economic ties between China and Germany, the Economic Forum of the SPD e.V. extended an invitation to a 20-member delegation for a high-level visit to China. Among the delegates was Carl Heinrich Bruhn, the CEO of CHB Holding, alongside the delegation’s leader, former State Secretary and current Vice President of the Economic Forum Matthias Machnig.

The delegation, comprising representatives from various German industries, went an journey filled with engaging economic policy discussions, insightful company visits, and invaluable networking opportunities across Beijing, Hefei, and Shenzhen.

For the CHB Group, the trip also served as a strategic move towards expanding business horizons. Through interactions with key stakeholders in China’s industrial and technological sectors, Carl Heinrich Bruhn gained invaluable insight into how market dynamics and emerging trends could be beneficial to CHB’s project porfolio.

In Beijing, pertinent economic interests and challenges such as ‘de-risking,’ and the characterisation of China as ‘Partner,’ ‘Competition,’ and ‘Systemic Rival’ were some of the topics of discussion with government officials, industry experts and representatives from renowned corporations including the Ministries of Industry and Information Technology, Commerce, and China’s former Ambassador to Germany H.E. Shi Mingde. These discussions provided a deeper understanding of the prevailing business environment and regulatory frameworks.

In Hefei, the delegation had the opportunity to visit the Volkswagen Innovation Centre and engaged in fruitful exchanges with management. The innovation potential showcase during a visit to vehicle manufacturer NIO shed light on how CHB can make use of cutting-edge technology and innovation for future projects.

Shenzhen, renowned as a hub of digital innovation, offered a glimpse into the transformative power of China’s digital economy. Discussions with industry giants such as Huawei and Tencent provided Carl Heinrich Bruhn with firsthand insights into the rapid pace of technological advancements and inspired the potential for collaboration within the digital sphere.
